2009 FUNDRAISING THEME- Breath of Life: Decrease Infant and child Mortality and Save Lives.

5th ANNUAL TEE-OFF FORE THE HEALTH OF IT
- Rose Hall Resort & Spa, Montego Bay, Jamaica.

JWoW hosted its 5th annual Tee-Off Fore the Health of It golf charitable fundraiser & Think Green business development symposium over the Columbus Day weekend at Cinnamon Hill Golf course in Montego Bay, Jamaica. This was the first event hosted outside of the Washington, DC metropolitan area since JWoW’s inception in 2003.

The event was a tremendous success with over 50 guests traveling to Jamaica to stay at Rose Hall Resort and Spa where they were treated to a warm welcome reception by the hotel general manager.  On tournament day, golf enthusiasts and beginners joined in too, and teed-off under beautiful sunny skies at Cinnamon Hill golf course, overlooking the breathtaking Caribbean Sea. Proceeds from the event went to support purchasing life saving pediatric equipment for Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay.

7th ANNUAL TEA-OFF TO GOOD HEALTH-poolside

Due to the challenging economy, JWoW did things a bit differently in 2009. Instead of celebrating the 7th annual signature Tea-Off fundraiser at the Four Seasons Hotel, the venue of choice since our inception, JWoW opted for a “Stay-at-Home” phantom tea fundraiser and a small, private, island-chic poolside reception at the Chevy Chase, MD residence of the Jamaican Ambassador. Guests sported colorful chic attire, sandals and sporty shades and were welcomed with tropical leis and the sounds of Caribbean music. The event was covered exclusively by Washington Life Magazine www.washingtonlife.com

JWoW raised over $25,000 and was able to also support the important work being done by the following district orgainzations- HEALTHY BABIES PROJECT, MY SISTER'S PLACE, and CAPITAL BREAST CARE CENTER.

2008 Give5

JWoW 2nd annual give 5 Spirit of Giving holiday reception was held on December 5 at the Embassy of Jamaica in Washington, DC. Special Guest was the Honorable Audley Shaw, Jamaican Minister of Finance. JWoW presented a check for $2,500 to Minister Shaw in support of Hurricane Gustav Relief efforts that continue.

2008 TEE-OFF FORE THE HEALTH OF IT
Another Hole-in-One Success

JWoW hosted its 4th Annual Tee-Off Fore the Health of It golf event and health and business development symposium on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Hampshire Greens Golf Course in Silver Spring, MD.

Under sunny Jamaica-like weather, golfers tee-ed off at 8:30am, enjoyed the challenging course, and returned to a sumptuous Hole 19 Jamaican Lunch ParTEE and informative business development symposium and award ceremony.

Jamaican Ambassador to the United States, Honorable Anthony Johnson, event co-Chair, presented the state of healthcare address on behalf of Jamaican Minister of Health, and Maryland State Delegate, Honorable Herman L. Taylor, brought greetings from the Montgomery County Legislative District 14, and presented an award to Dr. Jacqui Watson, JWoW President, acknowledging her outstanding service to the less fortunate in the Washington metropolitan community and abroad.

Tee-Off Sponsor, NCB Capital Markets Limited Manager, Tanya Powell, provided the audience with information on savvy investment strategies for a sagging economy.

Proceeds from the event went to the Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS) in Kingston, Jamaica, to boost prostate cancer awareness prevention efforts and to the Capital Breast Care Center (CBCC) in Southeast Washington, D.C.

A special donation was also made to the Hurricane Gustav Relief Fund in Jamaica.
