We are ordinary private citizens doing public good. We are friends and colleagues with diverse professional backgrounds who are committed to making a difference by working to improve the health and quality of life of vulnerable women, children and families in underserved communities, particularly in Jamaica, the Caribbean and the Greater Washington area.

Vulnerable populations in the Caribbean and Washington DC share many similarities. Poverty, poor education, and a lack of access to quality health care result in negative health and social outcomes- and women and children in particular suffer disproportionately.

Concerned about this growing problem and the long term effects on quality of life and the sustainability of families, the women of JWoW agreed to pool their resources and professional expertise and raise funds to help address these issues.
